MEET MICHELLE LI
Michelle was born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada starting the age of 6. At 11, she picked up her first badminton racket and not long after started taking lessons at Lee’s Badminton Training Centre. Badminton was not just about power, or speed, or technique, or endurance, etc., it was a combination of everything. To become the best badminton player she could be, she had to master each and every aspect of the sport. This challenge to be the best was what sparked her passion and love for badminton. She began to compete and was always hungry to get better. She is now a professional badminton player and part of the Canadian national team (since 2009). She has won 8 senior national titles, 3 Pan Am Games titles, and 1 Commonwealth Games title, and she competed in the London and Rio Olympics. With a current ranking of #8 in the world she is qualifying for her third Olympics coming in Tokyo 2021.
Generally, she would say she does her best to bring a positive vibe on to the court and focus on bringing her best performance in each match no matter if she wins or loses. When she is not training or playing tournaments, she is usually a smiley person, she loves to eat, she loves to travel and she enjoys the roller-coaster ride of unexpected events that comes with this life. With every day and every experience, she is learning something new.
